Meeting him might actually let me forget about my wanting to meet Jared Leto. For the time I have with him.
No, joke (and stupid crushes) aside, he has taste in people he wants to meet and he is cuddly and fluffy. I am convinced I can show him a really good time in Amsterdam.

Well I could say that he’s a talented actor and singer, but that wouldn’t be quite honest now, would it? The real reason why I would like to meet him is to see if he is as beautiful in natura as he looks on camera.

Winter 1995/96, in the freezing cold after a blur concert in the Hannover Capitol. I was in a crowd of a 8 people(!), waiting for the band after the gig. He came out, he signed my CD cover of Parklife, he stormed off with Dave Rowntree. I don’t think he even made eye contact. Considering the masses of fans about to crush them, a rather sad display.

So he can give me a half-hour-rant.

She was cycling away into the rainy night! I think redbandita is super, super cool! It was really great to meet her and she made seeing the Decemberists all the more fun!

Lucyann and I arranged to meet her in Leidseplein, Amsterdam, before the Decemberists gig (more of which on 43T, and lawks a-mercy, it was a good ‘un!) last Thursday. We saw her flaming red hair from a mile away, and spent the whole evening with her, drinking, chatting and dancing like mentalists at the gig, eventually winding up in the Kashmere Lounge for a cheeky spliff to round off the evening. And what a lovely person she is! We clicked with her right away. She was excellent company, really fun, open, witty and forthright, and I really did feel like I’d known her for ages – no awkwardness at all. Any time she and her Irishman fancy a trip to drizzly old Newcastle, there’s a sofa bed right here for them! Redbandita, thanks so much for meeting us and making us so welcome in your adopted city. You rock!

...and lucyann: They walked up to meet me in Amsterdam yesterday. I was waiting for them on Leidseplein in the sunshine. I saw Abs and Lucy coming from afar and recognised the ladies from the flickerpics straight away. And they new it was me (I guess my hair gave it away)
We sat in the bar “hole in the wall” for a couple of drinks before going to the Decemberists concert in the Paradiso, the original reason for their trip to A’dam.
I got a ticket, too, and could join them for the gig, which was absolutely wonderful! Lucyann ended up on stage playing with the band at one moment! I am sure we will see the shots Abs took on flicker.
We walked towards their lodgings in the pouring rain and had great laughs.
It’s been wonderful to meet you two! I am glad we clicked and felt really happy to hear Abs say by the end of the evening (in the Kashmere Lounge) that she felt she’d known me for years.
I have to return the compliment and hope I’ll see you again someday, possibly in the UK, then.
This was SO worth it!
